Jennifer Farber Dulos' Family: Seeing Bloody Evidence Was 'Brutal'

Evidence of the violent way Jennifer Farber Dulos was killed was presented this week during the trial of suspect Michelle Troconis.

"Witnessing Jennifer’s blood-soaked clothing, knowing that was the shirt, the bra,
she wore on the last day of her life, made us imagine, again, what she must have endured on May 24, 2019."

STAMFORD, CT — During week two of the trial of Michelle Troconis, the family and friends of Jennifer Farber Dulos were understandably emotional while viewing blood-soaked articles of clothing that Jennifer wore the day prosecutors said she was murdered.

The evidence was presented Tuesday by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Michelle Manning in Stamford Superior Court, as prosecutors continued to paint a picture of the violent way that Jennifer Dulos died, NBC Connecticut reported.

"For Jennifer’s family and loved ones, seeing the physical evidence on Tuesday was brutal but also crucial," said Carrie Luft, spokesperson for the Farber family and friends of Jennifer, in a statement. "Witnessing Jennifer’s blood-soaked clothing, knowing that was the shirt, the bra, she wore on the last day of her life, made us imagine, again, what she must have endured on May 24, 2019."

The prosecution is shifting this week from Jennifer Dulos' New Canaan home, where blood evidence was found in the garage, to the Hartford area, the Stamford Advocate reported. That is where Jennifer's estranged husband, the late Fotis Dulos, is alleged to have dumped garbage bags filled with the blood-soaked clothing and towels used to clean up the garage.

Troconis was seen in surveillance video as being in the vehicle while Fotis dumped several bags of garbage, but she told investigators that she did not know what was in the bags.

Jennifer Dulos vanished on that day in May 2019, and her body has not been found. A probate judge declared her officially dead late last year.

The Duloses were going through a contentious divorce and child custody fight at the time of her disappearance, and Fotis was charged with kidnapping and murdering Jennifer. He never stood trial, because he took his own life in January 2020.

Troconis was his girlfriend at the time, and she was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and related violations, for which she is currently being tried. A separate trial for on similar charges for Kent Mawhinney, a former attorney and friend of Fotis', has not yet been scheduled.

Mawhinney and Troconis are accused of assisting Fotis Dulos in the murder plot and attempted cover up. Both have pleaded not guilty.

A key aspect of the prosecution's case against Troconis involves "alibi scripts" that she is accused of helping Fotis write. That evidence is also reportedly being presented this week.

"We hope that seeing this evidence in three dimensions can put an end to any suggestion that Jennifer is 'missing,'" Luft said. "She died a tragic death, and her loss is felt beyond what words can express. We are grateful to the prosecution and the investigators for their meticulous collection and presentation of evidence in this case. Above all, we trust in justice, and we hope that this trial will help provide answers to, and accountability for, what was done to Jennifer that day."
