NEW CANAAN, CT — Independence Day is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on in and around New Canaan for 2023.
We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around New Canaan so you can start planning now.

July 4 Festivities
What: New Canaan 42nd annual Family Fourth of July Celebration
Where: Waveny Park

When: July 1
The 42nd annual Family Fourth of July Celebration will be held July 1 at Waveny Park, featuring fireworks, live music and more.
According to a news release provided by the town, gates will open at 5 p.m. on July 1. Rain dates have been set for July 2 or July 8.
Activities will include family picnicking, several gourmet food trucks, kids inflatable bounce houses and live music, including Mind the Gap from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and the Town Band from 7:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. A spectacular fireworks display is scheduled to start soon thereafter.

What: Norwalk 2023 Independence Day Concert & Fireworks
Where: Calf Pasture Beach
When: July 3
Darik and the Funbags will perform live music before and after the fireworks performance. Their main live show will start at 7 p.m., according to the city's Facebook page. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m., and then Darik and the Funbags will perform again around 9:45 p.m.
Residents are asked to follow all new signage at the beach carefully, as there are now two exits from the main beach. While this will help with traffic flow following the fireworks, as always traffic is expected following the fireworks performance, as it is the city's most attended event at the beach.
"We ask for everyone's patience and cooperation during this time and encourage those interested to stick around after the fireworks and watch Darik and the Funbags' 9:45 p.m. performance while the traffic dies down," the post reads. "We hope you enjoy the city's 2023 Independence Day Concert and Fireworks performance!"

What: Darien Fourth of July Fireworks
Where: Darien High School
When: July 4
Live music will be provided by the Darien Community Band, and local food trucks will be on-site. There will also be face painting for kids, and a sensory-friendly location for viewers. Residents are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

What: Stamford Fourth of July Fireworks
Where: Cummings Beach
When: June 30
Entertainment will begin at 6 p.m., and residents will be able to bring blankets and chairs to the beach. There will be food trucks on site, and the fireworks will begin shortly after 9 p.m.

What: Greenwich's July 4th Fireworks
Where: Binney Park and Greenwich Point
When: July 1
This year's shows will be held on Saturday, July 1, at both Binney Park and Greenwich Point at dusk. Regular entry rules for Greenwich Point will apply. Vehicular access to the park closes at 8 p.m. or earlier, if parking capacity is reached.
