Everyone knows the Olympics are this week, but don’t forget about one of the top dog competitions taking place this week in the 138th Westminster Dog Show.
The show opens with the First Annual Masters Agility Championship on Saturday, February 8th 7p.m. eastern time. This takes place at The Piers in New York City. You can watch the event on Fox Sports. Sixteen mixed breeds, most from rescue shelters, will be competing in this performance event against 209 purebreds.
Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 10-11 will feature the Annual All Breed Dog Show. You can tune in on Monday at 5 p.m. on CNBC. Tuesday you can find the show on the USA Network at 8 p.m. These evening sessions will take in Madison Square Garden with the early sessions back at The Piers. Village Critter Outfitter will be sure to keep you updated on the event and let you know all that happens.
Judges for this show determine how close each dog fits the ideal standard for their particular breed. This can range from height, weight, length of hair, color and more.
The show features several different groups that can fit all dogs and all personalities. The dogs are separated into the seven groups of sporting, hound, working, terrier, toy, non-sporting, and herding. Watch all dogs look and act their finest and be sure to check out all the products VCO offers to make your dog look the best. Who knows, maybe next year you can watch your dog at Madison Square Garden compete.
