Majority of Public Speakers Opposed Merritt Village Plan
The developer has reduced the proposed scale of the project, but some still oppose it.

NEW CANAAN, CT—The proposed Merritt Village development is still receiving opposition despite a modified plan that reduced building heights and made other changes.
Eight members of the public spoke against the proposalwhile three were in support of it, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
More than 100 attended the meeting.
A petition circulating against the project has 985 signatures in hard copy or electronic form.
The proposal has been reduced from 123 units to 116 and townhouse-style buildings would be no higher than 3.5 stories with some structures being reduced to two stories, according to the New Canaanite.
