Malloy, Murphy Potential 2020 Trump Challengers: Report
The two Connecticut politicians were named among a crowded list for potential presidential challengers in 2020.

It hasn't even been 100 days into President Donald Trump's presidency and there is already speculation about potential opponents for the 2020 race. Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy and U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy were among about 17 names of potential challengers in a recent NBC News story.
Malloy announced Thursday that he wouldn't be running for a third term as governor in 2018 and that he would be using his remaining time in office to push through an agenda of getting Connecticut on the right fiscal track.
A recent survey showed an approval rating of 29 percent and a disapproval rating of 66 percent, which was the third worst among all governors and the worst among Democratic governors in the country.

Among other names mentioned in NBC's story were Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and Sen. Bernie Sanders who ran a robust primary challenge against Hillary Clinton.
Murphy has been a vocal critic of Trump on both domestic and foreign policy issues and is one of the youngest members of the U.S. Senate. He raised $3 million in the first quarter of 2017, according to the Hartford Courant. He is up for reelection in 2018.
