Malloy Reminds CT Consumers About Tax-Free Week Beginning Aug. 17
Connecticut consumers can enjoy tax-free week for clothing and shoes, starting Aug. 17 through Aug. 23.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy reminded Connecticut consumers Friday about next week’s sales tax free shopping week for clothing and shoes. The week-long special shopping event begins on Sunday, Aug. 17 and continues through Saturday, Aug. 23.
“Having this week-long sales tax holiday not only makes back-to-school shopping just a little bit easier, but also helps retailers boost their bottom line,” Malloy stated during a promotional event. “Many stores also plan sales and discounts to coincide with this week, which allows families to stretch their hard-earned money a little further. This is a great opportunity to shop locally and support Connecticut retailers.”
