Democratic National Convention: Malloy Takes Aim at Trump/Pence Ticket
Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy called for party unity behind Hillary Clinton and also took aim at Donald Trump and Mike Pence.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy doubled down on his criticism of Donald Trump and vice presidential pick Indiana Gov. Mike Pence Monday night during a speech at the Democratic National Committee event.
Malloy, who spoke in his capacity as chair of the Democratic Governors Association, called for the party to unify behind Hillary Clinton.
"Democratic governors and the Democratic Party are focused on the issues that matter to working families and that’s what Hillary Clinton will focus on as our president," he said.

Malloy then turned his attention directly to Pence. The two have feuded on issues including Syrian refugees, LGBT protection and business environments in their respective states. He got a loud round of applause after he mentioned that Connecticut took in a Syrian refugee family after being turned away from Indiana.
He also spoke of the importance of Democratic governors sticking together and touted some of Connecticut's accomplishments in his time as governor including a 48-year low for crime and a lower prison population.
Malloy won a loud applause when he mentioned how Connecticut was the first state in the nation five years ago to pass mandatory paid sick leave for workers.
He also said the state has added 100,000 jobs, but didn't specify during what time period.
The Republican Governors Association took to Twitter to criticize Malloy as he spoke. The association is headed by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, an active Trump supporter.
Malloy had a tough week last week after news broke that he bypassed an airport security checkpoint while carrying a backpack for his son who was boarding a plane. A grand jury will also be put togetherto investigate Democrat fundraising efforts during Malloy's 2014 gubernatorial bid.
