Man Accused Of Striking Cyclist With Vehicle: New Canaan Police
Police said a man is accused of striking a cyclist with a vehicle in New Canaan and leaving the scene of the incident.
NEW CANAAN, CT — A man accused of striking a cyclist with a vehicle in New Canaan and leaving the scene of the incident was arrested this week, according to police.
In an arrest summary, police said a 56-year-old Ridgefield man was struck by a vehicle on April 28 around 1 p.m. while cycling north on Smith Ridge Road.
The vehicle left the area after striking the cyclist, who was taken to the Norwalk Hospital emergency room for treatment of injuries and further evaluation, police said.

Based on statements from witnesses, police identified the suspected vehicle as a gray older model sedan or SUV with New York license plates.
Officers later identified Christopher Lynch, 51, of South Salem, N.Y., as the driver, police said. An arrest warrant for Lynch was obtained after officers collected forensic evidence from his vehicle and video surveillance footage from the area of the crash, police said.

Lynch surrendered himself to New Canaan police Tuesday. He was charged with improper passing - unsafe distance and evading responsibility - serious physical injury.
