Man Arrested for DUI, Weapon in Motor Vehicle in New Canaan

The man allegedly admitted to texting while driving, but also was found to be intoxicated.

NEW CANAAN, CT- A Norwalk man was arrested after he was found driving erratically April 12 around 12:30 a.m.

Police pulled over James Lucchesi, 20, after his vehicle crossed over the double yellow line on New Norwalk Road.

He said that he was texting while driving, which caused him to operate erratically, according to police.

An officer detected the odor of alcohol on his breath. Lucchesi was given a field sobriety test that he failed.

Officers also found a Winchester fixed blade knife with a length of 4 and 7/8 inches, police said.

A subsequent blood-alcohol test came back with a result of .145.

He was charged with weapon in a motor vehicle, DUI and using a handheld device while driving.
