NEW CANAAN, CT - A Derby man was initially held on a $1,000 bond for his involvement in a domestic incident in New Canaan on Thursday, police said in a news release. Police said at 8 p.m. officers took custody of Muhammad O'Neil Clark, 37, of Third Street, after receiving a complaint of a domestic dispute that took place at a residence on Millport Avenue. He is charged with disorderly conduct and assault. Police say no other details will be released because it's a domestic incident.

VFW Seeks Volunteers and Donations for Flag Placing at Lakeview Cemetery on Saturday, May 16 at 8am
Volunteers are wanted to assist VFW Post 653 in New Canaan to place flags at the graves of fallen soldiers in their honor for Memorial Day. All are welcome to participate on Saturday, May 16, from 8am to 10am at the Lakeview Cemetery on Main Street in New Canaan. We will meet at the lower Veterans’ section (Section M), just to the right after you enter from Main Street and cross the bridge. Refreshments will be served. The VFW removes the flags it places, so that these flags may be reused next year. Removing the flags, is following proper flag etiquette and protocol established at Arlington Cemetery, and of course, has the added benefit of reusing flags, thereby reducing waste and conserving funds. Removing flags is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 6 at 8am, but unlike flag placement, is weather dependent.
Memorial poppies will be available for any donation made to New Canaan VFW Post 653 the Saturday and Sunday of May 16 and 17 and of Memorial Day weekend at several New Canaan businesses (ACME, Dunkin Donuts, Walter Stewart’s Market and Zumbachs). Post 653 uses fundraising proceeds to pay for flags and wreaths that are laid on Memorial Day and during the Christmas season on veterans’ graves at Lakeview and other cemeteries in New Canaan.
If you know of a veteran interred in New Canaan who has not been remembered and honored with a flag and wreath, please contact Mike McGlinn, Commander VFW Post 653 know at 203 962 1302.
