The incident occurred on Sept. 22.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 30-year-old Norwalk man, whose van was towed to the New Canaan Gulf Service station on South Avenue, was arrested on a larceny charge on Sept. 22 after he allegedly drove off without paying the tow fee, according to New Canaan police.

"[Robert] Lenkowski had his vehicle towed by the service station and owed $254.00 in fees and told employees at the station that he would return in 2 hours to pay for the tow," wrote New Canaan police in a statement. "It was shortly after telling employees at the station that he would return with payment that the van was seen leaving the station and the tow fees had not been paid."

Lenkowski, of Devil's Garden Road, was picked up by Norwalk police a short while later and turned over to New Canaan police.
