Update: MTA Pays New Canaan Bills

First Selectman Mallozzi had taken on the role of debt collector in an effort to get MTA to pay up for work that was performed months ago.

NEW CANAAN, CT- Update: MTA settled its more than $45,000 debt with a check personally delivered to Mallozzi at the train station, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

Original story: First Selectman Robert Mallozzi is displeased to say the least at the Metropolitan Transit Authority's lack of payments for police work performed by town officers.

As of April 15 MTA owes more than $44,000 for three invoices dating back to August and September of last year, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

Mallozzi and Police Commission Chairman Stuart Sawbini have said that no extra-duty officers should be made available to MTA until it pays its bills.
