Narcotics Arrest Following New Canaan Motor Vehicle Stop: Police
The incident occurred Tuesday night, Oct. 17, on Old Stamford Road.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 20-year-old Greenwich man was arrested on multiple narcotics charges Tuesday night in New Canaan after police found an undisclosed amount of marijuana during a routine motor vehicle stop, according to authorities.
Jack James Portu, of The Ave, was pulled over on Old Stamford Road just before 9 p.m. after an officer saw that his vehicle had a defective marker light.
"A [motor vehicle stop] was conducted and upon speaking with Portu (the operator) the officer observed in plain view a glass jar in the center console containing marijuana," wrote New Canaan police in a statement.

Portu was taken into custody and charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Use of drug paraphernalia
- Possession with intent to sell/dispense
He was released after posting a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 31.
