The U10 Boys’ Black soccer team gutted out a 1-0 victory over the Stamford Hurricanes Yellow. The Black controlled much of the flow from the start and finally broke through with the game’s only goal in the 45th minute.
Strong play by Hari Joshi, Will Casey, Cooper Jessop and Rishi Kurada pressed the play in Stamford’s end throughout the first half. And when Stamford was able to find opporutunities, each chance was turned aside by New Canaan goalie, Nolan Charlton.
The game’s only goal was scored by Lorenzo Marsili shortly after start of the second half. Marsili took possession in midfield, dribbled to his right and let go a beautiful strike into the right side of the net.

This effort proved to be the game’s difference as the Black’s stingy defense, lead by Walker Blair, held the Stamford offense in check for the rest of the way.
New Canaan nearly added an insurance goal in the 56th minute as strong ball movement among Ben Cavanagh, Noah Marshall, and Peter Cioffi created an opportunity for James Casey that just went wide.
