New Arrest For New Canaan Suspect In Animal Cruelty Case

Heidi E. Lueders, already facing charges in Fairfield, was arrested Tuesday night by New Canaan police.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The 31-year-old New Canaan woman, who is facing animal cruelty charges out of Fairfield, has been arrested by New Canaan police on separate charges.

Heidi E. Lueders, of Marshall Ridge Road, was arrested Tuesday night at about 9:45 p.m. following what New Canaan police described as "a report of a domestic violence incident between 2 occupants of the residence."

Additional details were not disclosed, but Lueders was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct. She was held in lieu of bail of $10,000 and was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Lueders was arrested on a warrant in connection with the deaths of five dogs allegedly under her care while she was president of Bully Breed Rescue, Inc., according to Fairfield police.

The deceased animals were discovered in November at Lueders' former home in Fairfield on Prince Street. She was charged with five counts of cruelty to animals and first-degree criminal damage to landlord's property by a tenant.
