New Canaan 2021 Local Elections: Candidates, Polling Places
Here's what you need to know concerning the 2021 New Canaan local elections including the candidates, polling places, voting hours and more.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan residents will head to the polls on Nov. 2 to cast votes for the municipal election. While the position of first selectman, selectman, town clerk, treasurer, and spots on the board of education, town council and board of assessment appeals are on the ballot, only a few races are contested this year.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.
You can request an absentee ballot here or you can visit your town clerk's office. All voters are eligible to check the top box that lists "COVID-19" as a reason for requesting an absentee ballot.

In New Canaan, Republican incumbent First Selectman Kevin Moynihan is running unopposed. For selectman, incumbents Democrat Kathleen Corbet and Republican Nick Williams area both running for another term.
For town clerk, Claudia Weber is running unopposed. Likewise, Andrew Brooks is running unopposed for treasurer.

For the board of assessment appeals, the candidates are Democrat Barbara Shaw and Republicans Kevin McIntosh and Pavla Levin.

For the board of education, the Democratic candidates are Penny Rashin, Erica Schwedel, Jennifer Hladick, Janet Fonss and Fatou Niang. The Republican candidates are Julie Toal, Phil Hogan and Dan Bennett.
Additionally, Democrat Karen Willett and Republican Hugo Alves are running to fill a vacancy on the board of education for two years.
The Democratic candidates for town council are Hilary Ormond and Rita Bettino. The Republican candidates are Kimberly Norton, Luke Kaufman, Tom Butterworth and Penelope Young.
For constables, the candidates are Susan Edmands, Edward Vollmer, Nick Mitrakis, Jordan Cerbone, Mary Anne Mercogliano, Greg Pepe, Jill Guzzetti and Arvind Bajaj.
