New Canaan Beautification League Receives Proclamation
The group is in the midst of celebrating its 80th anniversary.
NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan this week issued the following proclamation to the New Canaan Beautification League, which recently celebrated its 80th anniversary.
The proclamation states that May, 2019, has been designated New Canaan Beautification League month in the Town of New Canaan:
Whereas, The New Canaan Beautification League was founded 80 years ago in May 1939 by a group of caring volunteers to ensure that New Canaan would always be a beautiful, special place to live; and

Whereas, their mission is one of community service and to provide education to its members along with an opportunity to learn more about gardening, conservation and horticulture; and
Whereas, Throughout the years, members work hard to design, plant and maintain many roadway triangles, civic areas, hanging baskets downtown, train station plantings, God’s Acre monument, Town Hall planters, Vine Cottage, the Center School Bell and the Morse Court area; and

Whereas, The Beautification League is a successful non-profit, community service and educational organization offering monthly programs, activities, lectures, field trips and tours throughout the year; and
Whereas, The Town of New Canaan is very proud of the commitment and the accomplishments of the Beautification League over the last 80 years and their continual enhancement of our community.
Now, therefore, I, Kevin J. Moynihan, First Selectman of the Town of New Canaan, do hereby proclaim May, 2019 as New Canaan Beautification League month in the Town of New Canaan.
