New Canaan Board Of Selectmen To Review July 4 Celebration Plans During Upcoming Meeting: Agenda
The New Canaan Board of Selectmen is scheduled to meet on March 17, 2026; here's what's on the agenda.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Board of Selectmen is scheduled to review a number of requests, as well as several Fourth of July event-related approvals, during its upcoming regular meeting.
According to an agenda available on the town website, the board will hold the hybrid meeting Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the Town Hall meeting room.
The agenda includes a public comment period for remarks related to items scheduled for review or vote.

Among the items listed on the agenda, the board is scheduled to consider a request from the Housing Authority for $560,000 from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund for capital improvement projects at the Millport properties.
The board is also scheduled to review a proposal from the Department of Public Works to enter into a contract with Stumpers, LLC totaling about $487,946 for the replacement of sidewalks on Butler Lane, Danvers Lane and Whiffle Tree Lane, according to the agenda.

Several items related to preparations for the town's annual Fourth of July celebration at Waveny Park are also listed on the agenda.
According to the agenda, the board is scheduled to consider entering into a $36,000 contract with International Fireworks Manufacturing Co. to provide the July 4 fireworks display, with rain dates of July 5 and July 11.
Board members are also scheduled to review a request to increase the entrance pass fee for the fireworks event and another proposal to close Waveny Park during the day on July 4 to allow for event preparation and allow for food trucks and beverage and ice cream sales during the event, according to the agenda.
Some other agenda items include proposed exterior repairs to the Lapham Community Center and a purchase of four picnic tables for a new playground area at Waveny Park.
A request from the Recreation Department to allow food trucks as part of a newly proposed "Labor Day Weekend Bash" event to be held Sept. 4 is also listed on the agenda.
Additional items listed include a request to hire an assistant to the town clerk and a proposed appointment to the Ethics Committee, according to the agenda.
