New Canaan to Buy Body Cameras for Parking Enforcement Officers

Recent run-ins between the officers and angry drivers prompted the decision.

New Canaan, CT - A couple of recent angry exchanges between motorists and New Canaan parking enforcement officers has prompted the town to equip the staff with body cameras as a potential deterrent.

The town will spend nearly $3,700 to buy five such cameras for parking officers, writes Michael Dinan of NewCanaanite.com.

Earlier this month, a Norwalk woman and a parking enforcement officer got into an argument over a parking ticket that resulted in the woman being arrested, one of a couple of similar exchanges in recent years.

First Selectman Rob Mallozzi called the purchase "really sad," NewCanaanite.com reports, in part because members of the parking staff are simply doing their jobs.
