New Canaan Charter Commission Suggests Changes to First Selectman Duties
The commission, which is the first step in any charter change recommended that the first selectman's role on the Board of Finance change.
NEW CANAAN, CT- The Charter Revision Commission is expected to recommend that the first selectman no longer serve as chairman of the Board of Finance.
The commission voted 6-2 in favor of the measure and is expected to put it on its full list of charter change recommendations, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

Instead the board voted that the first selectman serve as an ex-officio member who would only vote in case of a tie.
Town Council members will vote on which changes should be put on the ballot in November. New Canaan voters will then decide which changes if any are made.
