New Canaan Continues To Grapple With Cell Tower Issues: Report

Two town committees studying the situation are not exactly seeing eye-to-eye.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The town needs to start over with a Request for Proposal for cellular tower solutions, and this time garner more input from the public and various commissions, according to Dan Radman, chair of New Canaan's Planning and Zoning subcommittee on wireless communications.

The New Canaan Advertiser reports that last year's RFP was created by the town's Utilities Commission and approved by the Board of Selectmen without enough opinions. Several residents have opposed cell towers throughout town, despite there being gaps in connectivity and signal strength.

Radman wants New Canaan to have a plethora of options as it pertains to wireless communications, because new technologies may help avoid construction of unsightly cell towers in town.
