On Monday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Connecticut climbed by 74, bringing the state's total to 1,998, officials said.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Another New Canaan resident died of complications from the new coronavirus (COVID-19), and the number of confirmed cases in town is more than 175, according to Mike Handler, director of Emergency Management.

On Sunday, the town's walking trails reopened, but Handler cautioned residents that parks and play fields remain closed, and that people should continue social distancing efforts.

"With the opening of our town’s walking trails, I want to remind everyone that our parks, fields and playgrounds remain closed," Handler said. "I worry that with the upcoming warmer weather, some may use our reduced restrictions on our trails to take advantage of the other aspects of our parks. Please make smart choices and do not allow our children to congregate in our parks or anywhere else for that matter."
