New Canaan Crew Scores Multiple Medals at Saratoga Regatta
NCHS Team Delivers at Head of Fish Regatta

New Canaan, CT –New Canaan High School
Coached by Maritime Rowing Club of Norwalk, the New Canaan High School crew team scooped up several medals at the recent Head of the Fish regatta in Saratoga Springs.
Both the women’s and men’s varsity teams claimed first place finishes in the Women’s Varsity Quad and Men’s Varisty Quad events. Claire Campbell, Caroline Murphy, Gaby Kulesz and Lauren Bell led the women’s effort while Andrew Langalis, David Orner, Philip Bogdanov and Aidan Bridwell represented the varisty men. Campbell captured first place in the Women’s Junior Single event as well as third place in the Women’s Junior Double event with teammate Lauren Bell. Langalis and Orner took home third place in the Men’s Junior Double race.

New Canaan reeled in impressive finishes with the junior varsity effort as well. Perry Beringer, Dan Cone, Riley Marsh and John Norton walked away with first place in the Men’s Junior Varisty Quad race. Jenna Froland, Tate Aaronstein, Maggie Owen and Siobhan Naughton led the charge in securing first place in the Women’s Junior Varsity Quad event.
The Men’s Junior Novice 8 team of Caroline Challe, Tim Cone, Ian Davies, Michael Dayya, Edward Koeckert, Ethan Marsh, Harrison Mount, Dmitri Nuzhny, and Andrew Orner snagged second place for the third time this season.

Third place finishes were claimed by both the Men’s Junior Frosh Novice 4 team of Anika Chatterjee, Robbie Hynes, Kevin Fanning. David Carratu and William Grotto; and the Men’s Junior Lightweight 8 team of Ethan Geller, Owen Kennelly, Luca Furst, Jack Reed, Phillip Macneal, Josh Klapper, Griffin Hall and Luke Brand.
About New Canaan High School Crew: New Canaan crew was organized in 1997. The program is run under the guidance of Maritime Rowing Club in Norwalk and has expanded from thirteen rowers to over 110 from New Canaan High School, Darien High School, King School in Stamford, Joel Barlow School in Redding and several other schools in the area and as far away as New Haven. Rowers from the program compete regionally, nationally and internationally on the U.S. Junior National Team and have been medal winners on at all levels. The team has garnered multiple national championships over the last four years as well as countless regional and state championships.
About Maritime Rowing Club: Maritime Rowing Club is home to the New Canaan High School crew team. The organization is dedicated to competitive and recreational rowing for all ages and abilities. Based on the scenic Norwalk River, rowing both sweep and sculling shells, Maritime is a team-oriented rowing club where all members work together to provide an enjoyable rowing experience for all. Since 1996, Maritime Rowing Club has offered rowing classes for all ages and skill levels from Middle School to Learn-to-Row to Masters competitive racing.
