New Canaan Drivers: Lane Closures on Merritt in Norwalk Wednesday, Thursday

Lanes were scheduled to be closed on the Merritt Parkway Wednesday and Thursday for state bridge inspections.

The right lane on the southbound-traffic side the Merritt Parkway in Norwalk between Exits 40 and 38 is closed until 3 p.m. today (Wednesday), the Connecticut Department of Transportation said Wednesday in an announcement.

The lane closures are needed for state bridge inspections, according to the department.

In a separate, earlier announcement, the department said these lane closures on the Merritt would take place both Wednesday and Thursday and on both the northbound- and southbound-traffic sides of the parkway:

On Wednesday: The left lane on the northbound-traffic side between Exits 38 and 39. (The department also announced the right lane would be closed on the southbound side, as noted above, but said that would occur only between Exits 38 and 39 — the more recent announcement noted above may or may not mean a longer or different lane closure.)

On Thursday: The right lane on the northbound-traffic side of the parkway between Exits 38 and 39 is scheduled to be closed, along with the left lane on the southbound-traffic side, along the same stretch of road.
