New Canaan Drivers: Nighttime Lane Closures on I-95 in Westport Start Wed.

A bridge maintenance project will close some lanes in both “northbound” and “southbound” lanes (actually eastbound and westbound lanes) of Interstate 95 in Westport from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a week, starting Wednesday, the state Department of Transportation has announced.

The lane closures, for a bridge maintenance project, will take place between Exits 17 and 18 on the highway, also known as the Gov. John Davis Lodge Turnpike.

The project is “scheduled to occur” from Wednesday, Jan. 7 to Wednesday, Jan. 14, according to the DOT, but in a news release the department adds: “Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.”
