New Canaan Flag Football Kicks Off This Week
NEW CANAAN, Conn. — As professional football players begin preseason, the New Canaan Flag Football League is also getting ready to kick off.

Before the start of the season, the NCFFL will hold a camp for nearly 100 players
Aug. 18 through 22 at Waveny Park from 4:00 to 6 p.m. The camp is for registered players and is a clinic for conditioning, skills and practice games.
Camp is run by various past players and coaches; including former NFL player Pete Najarian, who played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings.
Registration for the upcoming season began earlier last month and will run until Aug. 19, according to the league’s website. The season will start on Aug. 28 with practices, and the teams will begin play on Sept. 6

The league will be split into four divisions by grades.
The divisions are: Grades 2 and 3rd, 4th through 6, a 7th and 8th grade division and a high school division.

The league works with USA Football and is run by the New Recreation Dept. The program is designed to educate young people about football while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. Players learn skills and lessons that help them succeed both on and off the field.
