New Canaan Football Holds Off Norwalk, 28-14

Matt Milano throws three touchdown passes for Rams, who improve to 5-0 while handing the Bears their first loss

This time, the New Canaan football team didn't need any fourth-quarter heroics.

Matt Milano threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another score Friday as the Rams defeated Norwalk 28-14 at Testa Field in a battle of undefeated teams.

New Canaan, which improved to 5-0, needed fourth-quarter rallies in each of its two previous games. Last week, the Rams rallied from an 11-point deficit to defeat McMahon, 36-33.

New Canaan was in control Friday, however, building a 21-7 halftime lead, then scored early in the third quarter to extend its cushion to 28-7.

Norwalk, which dropped to 4-1, did open the scoring on Kenny Francois' 3-yard TD run in the first quarter, but New Canaan answered on Mllano's 1-yard keeper.

In the second quarter, Milano threw TD strikes of 29 and 31 yards to Connor Kilbane, his favorite target, to give the Rams their 21-7 halftime lead.

New Canaan added to its lead on Milano's 13-yard TD strike to Grady Lynch. The senior quarterback, who passed for 200 yards, now has thrown 14 TDs this season.

Norwalk made it closer on Delshawn Wilson's 5-yard TD toss to Derek Edwards in the fourth quarter.
