The New Canaan girls soccer team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class LL state tournament Saturday with a 2-0 win over Hamden.
Anna Borea scored in the fourth minute and Sarah Mannelly added an insurance goal in the second half for the seventh-seeded Rams, who improved to 14-3-2.
New Canaan will host FCIAC rival Trumbull on Tuesday for a berth in the semifinals.

The Eagles, who are seeded 18th, advanced with a 1-0 upset of No. 2 seed South Windsor.
FCIAC teams are dominating the state tournament, going 12-5 through the first two rounds with five teams reaching the quarterfinals. Of the five losses, three came in head-to-head meetings.
