New Canaan Grade 6 Boys Red Wins Tournament

The team racks up a string of victories

The 6th grade boys red (NCBR) basketball team, led by Coach Marc Fields, started the season strong, winning their first 5 away games the boys showed great team synergy with all players contributing.

Their first game was Friday, Dec. 5 against Westport. NCBR started out slow and were down 11-13 at the half only to rebound the second half to a victory of 42-29. Gavin Bramwit and Jack Fannon scored 10 points each along with buckets by Casey and Blake Whittaker, Denis Mulcahy, Bobby Mushkin, Steven Panzano, David Siegel and Connor Flanagan.

On Saturday, December 6th the boys won a 3 mini-game tournament in Wilton. Their first game was against the Westport team from the previous night (23-14). Three pointers by Jack Fannon and Blake Whittaker and steals by Maddox Underwood and David Siegel along with two free throws by Connor Flanagan helped seal the win.

In the second game against Wilton, New Canaan trailed at the half (11-12) but took over in the second to win 25-17. Gavin Bramwit had 11 points, Jack Fannon walked away with 8 and Denis Mulcahy nailed both his free throws.

The final game against Darien proved to be a nail-biter. Points by Bobby Muskin, Gavin, Jack, Maddox and David brought the team neck and neck but it was the final baseline jumper by Blake Whittaker that sealed the deal. New Canaan wins 27-25.

In their final game of the week-end New Canaan beat the Greenwich Stars 45-13.
