NEW CANAAN, CT — Nicole Vartuli, 28, a Stamford native, has been hired by the New Canaan Police Department as its newest officer, department officials announced.
Most recently, Vartuli was employed by the City of Stamford, where she worked as an Account Clerk for the Stamford Police Department. She graduated from Westhill High School in Stamford, and attained her Associate’s Degree in Accounting through Baker College.
She will be sworn in on June 27 at the Lapham Community Center, and will begin her recruit training on July 7 at the Connecticut Police Academy’s 358th training session in Meriden. Vartuli is slated to graduate from the police academy in late December.

"[Vartuli] was one of 114 candidates that submitted eligible applications for employment," wrote officials about last fall's officer recruitment efforts. "Nicole successfully endured an intensive testing and selection process including a written examination, physical agility testing, interview panel, polygraph, psychological evaluation, background investigation, medical testing, and Police Commission interviews."
After completion of her academy training, Vartuli will undergo a minimum of 400 hours of field training with the New Canaan Police Department before being certified as a Probationary Police Officer.
