NEW CANAAN, CT — A Request for Proposal document is being drafted by New Canaan officials for the consideration of installing surveillance cameras at Waveny Park, reports the New Canaan Advertiser.

The issue of adding cameras at the 300-acre park is not new, but has drawn increased scrutiny following the disappearance of Jennifer Farber Dulos, the New Canaan mother-of-five whose SUV was found at the park on May 24, the day she went missing.

Following news of the disappearance, at petition was launched at Change.org calling for cameras to be installed, and as of July 19, more than 2,200 people have signed it toward a goal of 2,500 signatures.

Members of the New Canaan Parks and Recreation Commission called for the creation of an RFP and hope to have a first draft for review by the fall.

Much of the research for the document will fall on the shoulders of Parks Superintendent John Howe, Public Works Director Tiger Mann and Recreation Director Steve Benko Jr., according to the publication.
