New Canaan To Launch New Commuter Parking Spaces, App

NEW CANAAN, CT — A total of 60 new commuter parking spaces will open on Monday, Sept. 10, next to St. Aloysius R.C. Church on Cherry Street, as part of the town's recently finalized deal with commuter parking company Boxcar.

The daily fee spaces, which are marked “Boxcar,” are located on the corner of Cherry and Park streets and will cost $7. They will be available from 6 a.m. to midnight, and can be secured through the Boxcar app.

People who park in the spaces without paying will have their vehicle stickered, writes the New Canaan News.

Last month, the town also announced it would build an additional 60 commuter parking spaces at the Talmadge Hill Train Station.

Below is the text of the email to sent out to commuters announcing the new Boxcar spaces and app:

Dear New Canaan Commuter:

The Town of New Canaan is pleased to announce the launch of Boxcar’s commuter parking service (see www.boxcarapp.com) in New Canaan.

Starting September 10th, you can now reserve daily commuter parking in the Boxcar app, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Boxcar is a New Jersey-based mobility company that is expanding its commuter parking service into Connecticut. New Canaan is the first town in Connecticut to partner with Boxcar to make reservable parking
available for its train commuters.

The first Boxcar parking spaces in New Canaan are 60 daily-fee spots in the St. Aloysius R.C. Church parking lot at 21 Cherry Street (corner of Park Street and Cherry Street). Click here for map.

To reserve Boxcar/St. Aloysius parking spaces just download the Boxcar app (from the Apple App Store or Google Play) to your smart phone, create an account and then reserve parking for the days you want. The initial daily fee at Boxcar/St. Aloysius is $7.00.

Boxcar expects to add additional parking spaces to their New Canaan inventory in the weeks and months ahead.
