New Canaan Man Allegedly Violated Protective Order: Police

The suspect was arrested at the Talmadge Hill train station on Sunday, Sept. 3.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 19-year-old New Canaan man was arrested on a charge of violation of a protective order on Sunday afternoon after he was spotted in a vehicle with the person for whom he supposed to avoid, according to police.

James P. Fahey, of Hillcrest Road, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Talmadge Hill train station.

The incident began when a witness phoned authorities in Darien that they allegedly saw a woman in distress in a vehicle on Talmadge Hill Road. Darien police quickly notified New Canaan police of the report.

"A witness observed the female yelling for help inside of the vehicle and called the Darien police," wrote New Canaan police in a statement. "New Canaan Police subsequently located the vehicle in upper parking lot of the Talmadge Hill Train Station. Upon speaking with Fahey and the female victim no evidence existed that the female was in immediate distress. A computer check of Fahey determined that a Protective Order was in place that prohibited contact between Fahey and the victim who was inside of the vehicle."

Police officials did not disclose further details of the incident. Fahey was released after posting a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 5.
