New Canaan Man Charged with Possession of Heroin

A New Canaan man was arrested after he was found to be in possession of heroin and Xanax following a traffic stop, according to police.

An officer pulled Tyler Pennetti, 26, over on May 18 after he went through a stop sign at Ponus Ridge Road and Frogtown Road.

The officer smelled marijuana and saw drug paraphernalia in plain view, police said. A search of the vehicle yielded heroin, marijuana and Xanax.

Pennetti was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to obey a stop sign and failure to carry a license.
