New Canaan Man Cited for Hitting Darien Pedestrian

The female victim was transported to the hospital as a precaution following the crash.

DARIEN, CT — A 51-year-old New Canaan man was issued an infraction after he struck a pedestrian in Darien Monday morning.

The collision happened around 5:41 a.m. at the intersection of Hollow Tree Ridge Road and West Avenue, police said.

An Acura MDX was traveling southbound on Hollow Tree Ridge Road and was in the process of turning left onto West Avenue on a green light.

A 53-year-old Darien resident was struck and reported shoulder and hand pain. She was transported to the hospital as a precaution. She was crossing West Avenue in a northbound direction and was in the crosswalk.

The vehicle operator said he didn't see the pedestrian as he made the turn. He was issued an infraction for failure to grant right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
