New Canaan Man Struck Utility Pole, Left Scene: PD
He told officers he swerved to miss hitting a deer, police said.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A local man was arrested after he struck a utility pole and fled the scene, according to police.
Police were dispatched to Valley Road near Colonial Road on March 5 around 8:30 p.m. on a report of a crash with a vehicle in an embankment.
It was determined the vehicle struck a utility pole on Valley Road and operator Jeffrey Fittpaldi, 39, didn't report the incident. He was located at his residence and indicated he swerved to avoid a deer and lost control, police said.

He was charged with evading responsibility and failure to drive right. He was released on a $500 bond.
