The letters have been turning up around town again.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan police are again warning residents to be on the lookout for scam letters that threaten to reveal a secret if the receiver doesn't pay the sender in the digital currency bitcoin, according to officials.
The letters have not only turned up in New Canaan, but also in Greenwich, Darien and other communities and all generally say the same thing... pay up to avoid the embarrassment of loved ones and friends learning about a supposed deep, dark secret.
"The letter is usually postmarked from Memphis or Nashville Tennessee," wrote New Canaan police on Twitter. "DON'T PAY!!! IGNORE!!!"
