New Canaan PD Search For Man Who Accosted Jogger In Waveny Park

The incident occurred at about 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who accosted a female jogger in Waveny Park on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred at about 5:40 p.m. while the woman was running on the park's trails, and the department has increased officer patrols in Waveny Park and in other town parks.

"The male suspect approached the jogger, tapped her on the shoulder, and made inappropriate remarks that alarmed [her]," wrote police in a statement.

According to officials, the suspect is described as:

  • White male
  • Approximately 5’8” tall
  • Short blonde hair
  • Black framed eye glasses
  • Wearing a blue hoodie with the Under Armour logo on the chest, shorts and running sneakers

"This is an active investigation. Anyone with information about this suspect or this incident should call our Department at 203-594-3500."

The department is encouraging joggers to run in pairs and in well-traveled areas, and report any suspicious people to police via 911.
