New Canaan Police Arrest Bridgeport Man Charged with DUI, Driving in the Wrong Lane

Police said they arrested a Bridgeport man for driving in the wrong lane and under the influence.

NEW CANAAN, CT - Police said they arrested a man Saturday on driving under the influence charges after observing a vehicle swerving.

New Canaan Police had received a report of a vehicle driving on the opposite side of the road in the area of Wood Street. Officers observed a vehicle driven by Amado Sacul De Leon of Bridgeport cross over the double yellow line and travel north bound on Weed Street in the south bound lane.

The vehicle then swerved back into the north bound lane. The sight prompted police to conduct a motor vehicle stop.

Upon speaking with De Leon, officers detected signs of intoxication. De Leon then failed the sobriety tests administered by officers.

The suspect was taken into custody on charges larceny, operating without a license, operating under the influence, operating an unregistered vehicle and driving in the right hand lane. Officers said De Leon provided a BAC sample of 0.193.

The suspect posted a $250 bond and was released, with a court date of Nov. 22.
