New Canaan Police Department Continues Recruitment Drive

"Applicants must be at least 21 year of age, have a minimum of 60 college credits or 2 years of military service," writes the department.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Police Department is currently looking for new recruits interested in becoming police officers, the department recently announced.

To apply, a person has to be at least 21 years old, and have a minimum of 60 college credits or 2 years of military service.

Additionally, prior to applying, an applicant must have a valid "CHIP" (Complete Health & Injury Prevention) card, which can be obtained here, and receive a 75 percent or better on the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association written exam (information is posted here).

The salary range for the job is between $61,303 and $85,595, with extra duty work paying $70 per hour.

Don't bother applying if you have been convicted of a felony or a Class A or B misdemeanor.
