New Canaan Police Department Looks To Hire New Officer
Interested in becoming a New Canaan police officer?

NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Police Department is looking to fill an entry-level police officer position, according to a recently posted advertisement on the town's website.
The post pays between $64,250 and $89,709 annually, and interested parties "must be at least 21 years of age, have a minimum of 60 college credits or 2 years of active-duty military service."
According to the position's description on PoliceApp.com, applicants with any of the following on their record will be disqualified:

- Any Felony Convictions
- Any Conviction of a Class A or Class B Misdemeanor (under CT Law or in any other jurisdiction that if committed in this state, would constitute a Class A or B misdemeanor.)
- Conviction of any act which would constitute perjury or false statement
- Conviction for any domestic violence related misdemeanor crime.
Additionally, an applicant would be disqualified if they have been dismissed, resigned or retired (or under investigation) from another law enforcement for any type of malfeasance or misconduct.
All candidates must apply through the PoliceApp site, and applicants must have a valid Complete Health and Injury Prevention (CHIP) card and score a 75 percent or above on the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) Entry Level Written Exam.
