New Canaan Police to Intensify Traffic Enforcement Near Schools

New Canaan Police announced that they will intensify traffic enforcement near schools as the school year starts.

Officers will be assigned to marked and unmarked vehicles, said Chief Leon Krolikowski. Police will be looking for motorists who exceed the speed limit, use handheld cell phones, pass stopped school buses and violate other motor vehicle laws.

Police remind residents of the following:

• Motorists must stop in both directions when a school bus has its flashing red lights on.
• Pay extra attention in school drop-off and pick-up zones.
• Don’t drive distracted.
