New Canaan Police Raise Money for K-9 Program

Tax-deductible donations help keep the NCPD K-9 program running.

New Canaan Police are asking for donations to keep its K-9 program running.

The program is run solely on corporate and private donations, said Officer David Rivera, K-9 handler.

Rivera and K-9 partner Apollo have made numerous narcotic arrests since July 2015. They also have assisted in search and rescue tracks for missing persons. The team also assists nearby towns when needed.

The goal is to raise money for a new K-9 that will be trained in narcotics. It will likely be a Labrador Retriever or German Shepherd.

A GoFundMe has been set-up for donations. So far $3,000 has been raised.
