New Canaan Police Round-Up: Daytime Burglary, Purse Stolen, Dress Shoplifted,

Dress stolen from store

A woman in ripped blue jeans shoplifted a small blue dress from Irresistibles on Main Street last week.

Police received a report on May 11 that a female suspected to be in her mid-20’s stole the dress after going to the fitting room. She quickly left the fitting room and the store.

The dress was valued at $78.

Daytime burglary reported

A Hawks Hill Road homeowner reported a forced-entry burglary to police.

The report was made on May 14 around 2:30 p.m. by the 36-year-old homeowner. He arrived home to find that someone forced the front door open, according to police.

The timeframe of the burglary was between 8:20 a.m. and 2:20 p.m.

Among the items taken were a $300 watch and $300 in jewelry. More items may be missing.

Purse stolen from Jeep

A 23-year-old woman reported that her purse was taken from her unlocked Jeep in a parking lot near the Mobil station known as Morse Court on May 17.

She had left the clutch purse on the seat around 2:15 p.m. It contained train tickets and her license. The purse is valued at $59.

She had went into a nearby store for 30 minutes and returned to find the purse gone.
