New Canaan Police Sergeant to be Suspended

He was also ordered to repay the town thousands of dollars after he reportedly kept his ex-wife on his health insurance plan.

Sgt. John Milligan was given a 90-day unpaid suspension and ordered to pay back more than $28,000 after a trial board hearing concluded.

Chief Leon Krolikowski said that Milligan accepted the agreement to penalties and by doing so accepted responsibility for his actions.

The penalties against Sgt. Milligan are serious and show that integrity and accountability are not just empty words. They are the core values of our organization and they will not be compromised under any circumstances,” Krolikowski said.

Milligan will also be ineligible for promotion for five years and can be assigned to any position in the department at the chief’s discretion.
