New Canaan Resident Named To Board Of Westchester Institute for Human Development

The group is one of 67 university-affiliated centers dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through education.

NEW CANAAN, CT - From the Westchester Institute For Human Development: The Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD), one of 67 university-affiliated centers in the nation dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through education, service, and research, has announced the appointment of Anne C. Gilmartin to its Board of Directors.

Gilmartin, who has 20 years of management experience as a human resources professional in the corporate sector and in higher education, is currently Executive Director of Human Resources, Safety and Security at Mercy College. She is responsible for the planning and overall management of various human resource disciplines at the college.

“We are very proud to welcome Anne Gilmartin to our Board of Directors. With her wealth of experience in all aspects of human resources, Anne is a valuable addition to our Board,” said Dr. Susan Fox, President and CEO of WIHD.

Gilmartin has extensive experience in areas of employee relations, employment law, diversity and affirmative action/equal opportunity. Prior to joining Mercy College in 2013, she served as Global HR Business Unit Lead at IBM Corporation in Armonk, responsible for the implementation and management of all human resource activities of IBM’s Global General Business organization. Gilmartin, who joined IBM in 1981, held numerous HR positions with the company including Senior Employee Relations Specialist and Senior Human Resources Partner.

Gilmartin is a graduate of Iona College and holds a law degree from Pace University. She is a resident of New Canaan, CT.

Westchester Institute for Human Development

The Westchester Institute for Human Development is one of 67 university-affiliated centers dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through education, service, and research. The Institute works to advance policies and practices that ensure the health and self-determination among people of all ages with developmental disabilities, and the safety and well-being of vulnerable children. For over 40 years, WIHD has been a key regional resource supporting children and adults with disabilities including autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, neurological and cognitive disabilities, hearing and vision problems, and speech/language delays.
