New Canaan School Propane Project Scrapped for Now

The town will be looking at the possibility of piping natural gas to schools.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The town will explore the possibility of heating schools with natural gas.

The Board of Education requested $819,000 to add propane tanks at schools in town, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

First Selectman Robert Mallozzi III will sit down with Eversource officials to discuss the possibility of piping natural gas to schools. Some natural gas lines already run through town. Propane will be looked at again next year in case discussions to bring gas to school fails.
