Milano Commits to Middlebury

New Canaan quarterback will continue his football career at Middlebury College.
Milano announced a commitment to the Division III school in Vermont on Saturday morning, the Stamford Advocate reported.

Milano, who led the Rams to a 22-4 record in his two years as a starter, broke Kurt Horton's long-standing school records for touchdowns in a season and career and passing yards in a season and career.
According to the Advocate, Milano also was considering the Ivy League and other schools in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) of which Middlebury is a member.

"I really wanted to get a chance to play, and the Division III level appealed to me in that regard,” Milano told the newspaper. “And it appealed to me that it will give me the chance to do other things. To me it was most important that I get a chance to play.”
One of Milano's future teammates will be Norwalk linebacker Gil Araujo, who also committed to Middlebury on Saturday.

The New Canaan girls indoor track team competed at the Bishop Loughlin games at The Armory in New York City on Saturday.
The sophmore girls 1,600 sprint medley relay team of Maureen Schott, Alex Naughton, Emily Wood, and Isabel Hetherington took the sixth-place medal with a time of 4:44.00.

The New Canaan boys hockey team renews its always intense rivalry with Darien on Monday.
Game time is set for 4 p.m. at the Darien Ice Rink.
New Canaan enters the contest at 0-1, having suffered a season-opening 3-0 loss to Notre Dame of West Haven.
Darien comes in with a 0-2 mark as the Blue Wave dropped a 6-5 overtime decision to West Haven on Saturday, a game in which they held a 3-0 lead in the first minute of the second period.

Courtney Rogers recorded 12 points and six rebounds as the New Canaan girls basketball team defeated Bridgeport Central 52-23 on Friday.
Kelly Armstrong added 10 points and Sarah Mannelly chipped in with nine for the Rams, who evened their record at 2-2.
New Canaan held a 12-5 lead after the first quarter and extended its margin to 25-11 at the half.
Bridgeport Central dropped to 0-4.

The New Canaan boys basketball team fell to 0-2 under new coach Mike Halley as the Rams dropped a 61-32 decision to Bridgeport Central on Friday.
Connor Kilbane scored nine points to lead New Canaan, which opened with a 90-35 loss to St. Joseph.
The Rams did do a decent job of slowing down a Central team that surpassed the century mark in a 109-106 season-opening loss to Danbury.
But New Canaan was held to single digits in three of the four quarters and trailed 30-13 at halftime.

Olivia Hompe recorded three goals and two assists Friday as New Canaan defeated Wilton 6-3 in girls hockey action.
Nicole Lue scored twice and Sammi Blicht once for the Warriors, who dropped to 0-2. Wilton opened its season with an 8-0 loss to Simsbury last week.
Holly Burwick Kyla Persky and Corbett Ripley also scored for the Rams, who improved to 3-0. New Canaan has scored 22 goals in its first three games with Hompe registering eight of them.
The Rams were back in action on Saturday and improved to 4-0 with a 5-0 victory over Guilford.
Hompe had a hand in all the scoring with three goals and two assists. Corbett Ripley scored twice for the Rams and Holly Burwick handed out three assists.
Britt Gardella recorded the shutout with 17 saves for the Rams.
