Thegirls hockey team improved to 15-0 Wednesday with a 4-2 victory over Ridgefield at the Winter Garden.

Olivia Hompe scored for 47th and 48th goals of the season for the Rams, who posted their second of the season over Ridgefield, also defeating the Tigers 3-1 on Dec. 19. Ridgefield dropped to 10-5 with its second straight defeat.

Ridgefield's Katie Curnan scored five minutes into the game to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead after the first period, but New Canaan tied in the second on a goal by Corbett Ripley, then scored three times in the final period.

Madzie Carroll snapped the tie just under five minutes into the period before Hompe scored her two goals to make it 4-2.  Meghan Galloway tallied Ridgefield's second goal with under two minutes left.

Britt Gardella made 17 saves for New Canaan (10-0 FCIAC) and Heather Ogden stopped 27 shots for Ridgefield (4-3 FCIAC).

The Ridgefield boys hockey team, ranked second in the state, cooled off New Canaan with a 5-3 win Wednesday at the Winter Garden Arena.

It was the 12th straight win for the Tigers, who improved to 12-1. Their only loss was a season-opening 3-0 defeat to top-ranked Fairfield Prep.

New Canaan lost for only the second time in its last nine games and fell to 8-4-1.

The New Canaan indoor track team will be well-represented at the FCIAC championship on Thursday in New Haven.

Leading the Rams' contingent will be Rami Hamdan, who is the top seed in the shot pot.

Alexei Spinu is the No. 3 seed in the boys 1,000 meters and Stephanie Benko is seeded third in the girls 3,200-meters.
