With its FCIAC playoff hopes starting to slip away, the girls basketball team looks to snap a three-game losing streak on Friday when the Rams visit Stamford in a 5:30 p.m. start.
This is a must win for New Canaan (8-7, 6-7), which has fallen two games out of a playoff spot. Stamford (8-7, 8-5) is among six teams tied for sixth in the FCIAC standings, a group that also includes Darien, Norwalk, Staples, Westhill and Fairfield Warde.
Darien plays at Norwalk and Staples hosts Westhill, so the group will be pared to no more than four teams after Friday. Warde also has a tough game at Trinity Catholic, which hosts the fifth spot in the playoff race.
New Canaan is coming off a 63-54 loss to Warde on Tuesday while Stamford snapped a two-game slide with a 66-44 victory over Ridgefield.
The New Canaan boys (1-12, 0-11) host Stamford (6-7, 5-6) in a 7 p.m. start. The Black Knights stunned Ridgefield, the FCIAC's second-best team, 50-39 on Tuesday.
